William Somerset Maugham (París 1874 – †Niza 1965) estió un nobelista, dramaturgo y escritor anglés.

Naxió en Franzia de pais angleses y s'educó en franzés, pero á la muerte d'os suyos pais se tresladó á bibir con a suya familia de Whitstable (Anglaterra). Estudeó literatura y filosofía en a Unibersidat de Heidelberg y medezina en Londres.

En a Primera Guerra Mundial, Maugham sirbió en Rusia como espía ta o M16.
